Oval Grand Tour souvenir brooch with glass tesserae micromosaic of a dog, set in the black obsidian, with C-clasp pin and lock at the back. The mosaic is set in brass frame engraved with geometric motifs decorated on four sides with purple rhinestones.Besides famous monuments of Italy and floral motifs, another typical micromosaic topic is animals: this particular iconography of a small chestnut and white dog reclining in a garden was very fashionable in XIXth century micromosaic accessories. This breed can be identified as the Cavalier King Charles Spaniel, a popular British toy dog breed.
